Gifts That Do Good!

Some companies don’t just make great products, they also understand that we are all one - one people sharing one planet.  Here’s a sample of socially-conscious artisans:

Coconut Chips - sweet and salty and great for a mid-afternoon snack, Hungry Buddha is part of 1% for the Planet, an alliance of businesses committed to creating a healthy planet.  As part of this alliance, Hungry Buddha tries to offset their carbon footprint, plants new coconut trees, helps to restore the oceans and creates clean drinking water;

Dark Chocolate with Forest Mint - at Endangered Species Chocolate, 10% of net profits are donated to non-profit partners that protect and reserve wildlife.  This particular selection of Dark Chocolate with Forest Mint, generates profits specifically for the Rainforest Trust which purchases and protects threatened tropical forests to save endangered wildlife.  Over the almost thirty years since inception, the Trust has protected in excess of 11 million acres of critical habitat in 20 countries;

Good Kharma Chardonnayfor each bottle of Good Karma sold, Flat Rock Cellars donates a portion of the sale to The Ontario Association of Food Banks dedicated to making Ontario hunger-free;

Low-Sugar Blueberry Jam - made by Rochon Gardens, a good old-fashioned family farm since 1957.  Their mission is humble, “to promote healthy eating and the importance of supporting local farming”.  Humble, but critical.  Without farms, what would we eat?  So, the family works the fields, harvests the fruits and vegetables sold at markets in Ottawa.  What doesn’t sell, turns into delicious preserves.

Unisex Socks by Conscious Step - made with 75% Organic Cotton grown in states of India to benefit from their organic cotton expertise (growing 80% of the world’s organic cotton) and to support small cotton farmers.  The socks are also manufactured in India using ethical labour (no child labor, minimum wage compliance, overtime compensation).  What's more, a donation is made for each pair of socks sold to a designated cause.  This gift includes two pairs of socks:

Socks That Protect Oceans -  the donation from these socks goes to Oceana  dedicated to protecting and restoring the world’s oceans, seeking to make our oceans as rich, healthy, and abundant as they once were.

Socks That Feed Children -   the donation from these socks goes to Action Against Hunger active in 50+ countries responding to emergencies caused by conflict, natural disasters and food crises.  Over 10 thousand therapeutic food packs have already been donated.

This gift comes with a brochure explaining the good deeds of all this companies.
