This will be the third year for the Sleepwalk Fundraiser. To date. They have raised over $20,000 to support sleep disorders research at the Ottawa Hospital.
Dr. Tetyana Kendzerska recently joined the Department of Sleep Medicine at the Ottawa Hospital and will be dedicated to research. Funds raised from the sleepwalk will support her work in analyzing how sleep disorders relate to broader health issues such as heart disease or depression.
The event starts at 7pm on Friday, September 22, 2017 at Dow's Lake and includes a silent auction. For more information, visit OttawaSleepWalk.ca.
WarmWishesGifts.ca is a proud supporter of this event.
This item is also up for bid. Cute gift for the cat and coffee lover.
Mission Pawsible was created to raise much needed funds for two Ottawa-area cat rescues: Furry Tales Rescue (furry-tales.ca) and Ottawa Stray Cat Rescue (oscatr.ca). The goal is to highlight local businesses and services while helping cats in need.
Funds raised will go towards vet bills, food, supplies and general cat care. Kitten season has been a very busy (and expensive!) one, and both rescues continue to receive regular requests for help while working to find homes for the hundreds of cats and kittens already in care.
WarmWishesGifts.ca is a proud support of this fundraising online auction. Visit the auction at https://missionpawsible2017.eflea.ca and bid on some great items or activities while saving money and helping stray kitties. Hurry! Auction closes July 16, 2017.
WarmWishesGifts.ca is delighted to participate again in the Ottawa Riverkeeper Gala 2017. The Ottawa River is key to the health and well-being of the over 1.7 million people who live within the watershed. But with so much pressure on the river the future of our watershed is threatened by pollution, over-development, dams, weakened laws and lax enforcement of existing regulations.
Pollution on the Ottawa River comes from many sources: sewage from cities and towns; pesticides and fertilizers from farms; effluents from the industries along the river. These pollutants kill wildlife, close beaches and result in consumption warnings for fish caught on the river.
Since 2002, Ottawa Riverkeeper has been at the forefront of fighting pollution on the Ottawa River. With our expert knowledge of river systems and pollution remediation we work cooperatively with all levels of government and industry to help find solutions to stop the pollution that damages our river.
We also help communities and citizens’ groups fight polluters. In 2012, for example, we worked with a town council in Quebec worried about pollution from a storage facility upriver from their drinking-water intake. With the help of our Riverkeeper, the town council was able to understand the regulations, determine the validity of the water quality results presented by the company, and ensure that the technologies were in place to protect the town’s drinking water.
We wish the Ottawa Riverkeeper and all attendees an absolutely wonderful evening and deep pockets for the live auction: riverkeepergala.com

Since the very first immigrants to Canada in 1604, our ancestors have been welcoming other immigrants ever since with open arms. This picture taken close to Emerson, Manitoba, could not be more Canadian. Let the politicians argue about the best way to deal with the influx of people over open Canadian borders and in the meantime, let's celebrate and be proud of our open hearts and minds. What a perfect time to honour our 150th anniversary of Confederation!
Thank you to all the RCMP, police and EMS folks looking after these brave and vulnerable migrants, and a very big thank you to the fine people of Emerson. You are all making Canadians very proud!
